Nick is now based at our workshops ensuring the maintenance of all Dragoman's trucks and seeing the new trucks out onto the road. During his time on the road he travelled Dragoman's epic Cape town to Cairo route and we caught up with him when he returned ...
Why did you become Dragoman crew?
I love to travel, I love mechanics and it just seemed like the ideal combination. I had seen Dragoman trucks in Ecuador when I worked there and eventually met another crew, had a chat and the rest is history.
What’s your favourite destination and why?
Too difficult! I love Patagonia because of the fantastic scenery, the people, the wine and the steak and it was the first place I traveled to so many years ago. I also love Mongolia for the remoteness, the people, the culture and the sheer size of it. I also love Southern Africa........so you can't pin me down.
What’s the best thing about working as Dragoman crew?
Every day is a new adventure, you wake up each and every day not knowing what might happen, what you will see, how the journey will go? I hate routine, I love to travel and I love meeting new people so its the best job in the world.
What’s the oddest thing you’ve ever eaten or drunk?
Easy, gotta be bull's balls and they weren't bad.
Funniest/best Dragoman moment?
Not sure I can tell you!! ;-)
What’s the one must-have item in your backpack?
Music Speakers. My trusty Mini-Rig goes everywhere. Everything else can be improvised.....except music.
Best piece of advice you can pass on to future passengers?
Push your comfort zone, you get out what you put into it, just do it.
What's the one luxury item you take with you?
