For anyone who wants to experience most of the highlights and the hidden gems of South America, this journey will take you the length and breadth of the continent and through the jungles, deserts, grasslands and mountains; it really is a catch all trip.

It is both a great road journey and a trip for the active. For lovers of trekking, you will get the change to hike the Inca Trail, through the Cordillera Blanca in northern Peru, through the Andes of Ecuador and the W Walk in Torres del Paine National park in Patagonia. If you enjoy horse riding you will ride across the beautiful northern cordillera near Cordoba in Argentina with the Gauchos and through the waters and ranches of the Pantanal in Brazil.

You will visit most of the continents great historic cities, including Cartagena, Quito, Lima, Cusco, La Paz, Santiago, Buenos Aires and Rio; but it's the less well known places that will surprise you most; places like the beautiful cities of Salta, Cuenca or Popayan.

Then there are the must do's and a multitude of national parks; too many to mention but all building to create the trip of a lifetime.

This is a great road journey and there will be long days driving but these are split with plenty of activity, trekking, riding, rafting and exploring historic or cosmopolitan cities. The accommodation will be mixed from wild camps, campsite, hostels and small hotels. Lifestyle will range from the relaxed to challenging.

Border Information: if joining in Cartagena, you will most likely enter Colombia at Cartagena Rafael Núñez International Airport (IATA code: CTG).

There will be an important group meeting at 6:00pm at the joining hotel - please look out at the hotel reception for a note from your leader with more details about this important meeting.

Please note that many of the options listed below will only be possible for those with extra time in Cartagena before the start of your trip with us - please contact the Sales team if you would like to book pre-tour accommodation with us to have extra time exploring Cartagena.

If you are continuing on from Panama, then your leader will have assisted you with airport transfers for your included flight to arrive in time for the joining meeting.
